Veterinary Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the treatment of conditions or symptoms by the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body. In veterinary medicine, acupuncture has been used for many medical conditions but is most commonly associated with muscular-skeletal treatment or pain management.

Although an ancient form of medical treatment, acupuncture can be incorporated into our Western modality. Stimulating points on channels or meridians stimulate specific nerve pathways and assist to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, and stimulate immune responses.

Acupuncture is usually administered over several sessions and can be a complementary protocol to other treatments.

Veterinary Chiropractic Care

Many people wonder why animals need chiropractic care. Just like humans, structure and function are intimately related. The structure (cranium and spine) houses the nervous system, which informs balance, coordination, and movement, among other things. Throughout life, events like a difficult birth, a fall, poor nutrition, severe illness, genetic predisposition, or the stresses of daily life can take their toll on the structure of an animal’s body. Gentle and specific chiropractic adjustments work to facilitate healing and normalize an animal’s structure – and therefore, function.

During the initial visit, your pet will receive a chiropractic exam that will determine whether he or she is a good candidate for chiropractic care. Because we are more than just a veterinary chiropractic center, we have the opportunity to offer a complete picture of your pet’s condition, viable treatment options, and likely outcomes. Follow up visits will include chiropractic adjustments, gentle muscle work, stretches, and laser rehab therapy, if indicated.

Dr. Graves believes that an educated owner can help an animal progress. She teaches at-home massage, stretches, and exercises that support work received in the office.
